UNled team working to clear potentially explosive debris from Jenin

The UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) reported on Wednesday that anti-mine specialists have set up a UN Explosive Ordnance Disposal Action Cell to deal with the current threat to civilians in Jenin.The group will provide advice to UNRWA on the problem of unexploded ordnance (UXO) in the Jenin refugee camp, and will make recommendations on how to dispose of the debris.According to UNRWA, technicians have already helped to clear many suspected items in a process that is expected to continue, since preliminary findings show more UXO will be found within the rubble of damaged houses. The UN is also warning civilians of the danger of handling these potentially deadly items.
