“More than the 19th Amendment the public wanted the 20th Amendment,” he said. He said that President Maithripala Sirisena, former President Chandrika Kumaratunga and former Prime Minister Sirimavo Bandaranaike, had all backed electoral reforms. Dissanayake also said that at the Parliament election the SLFP hopes to contest as an alliance with other political parties.Meanwhile, Minister Mahinda Amaraweera said that the four SLFP members who resigned from the Government, did not have a rift with the President or any SLFP members. The Sri Lanka Freedom Party (SLFP) today said that it is determined to implement the 20th Amendment to the constitution.SLFP MP S.B. Dissanayake said that the United National Party (UNP) is attempting to delay the 20th Amendment but the SLFP will push for it.
