MOL to Provide FSRU for Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal

Lines (MOL) has signed a preliminary agreement to supply a Floating Storage and Regasification Unit (FSRU), as well as jetty operation and  maintenance services for the Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal Project on a long term contract. The Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal Project will be located at the southern waters of Hong Kong and to the east of the Soko Islands.MOL said it would use the 2017-built MOL FSRU Challenger, built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering (DSME), for the job. The FSRU has a storage capacity of 263,000 m3, making it the largest FSRU in the world today. The vessel is currently employed on a mid-term charter for a project in Turkey, according to MOL.Challenger is expected to enter into service at the terminal around the end of 2020 at the earliest after delivery and completion of commissioning.“Discussions are ongoing to develop and reach a definitive agreement for the supply of the FSRU which will assist in improving the long-term energy security for Hong Kong as well as providing access to competitive natural gas supply from world markets,” MOL said.In line with the project outline, the FSRU will distribute gas into two destinations in Hong Kong, the Black Point Power Station located at New Territories and Lamma Power Station located at Lamma Island.The Hong Kong Offshore LNG Terminal Project is being developed to support the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government’s target of generating about half of Hong Kong’s electricity from natural gas from 2020 onward to improve air quality and environmental conditions in Hong Kong.The government is currently reviewing the environmental impact assessment study for the project.last_img read more

Two Dogs Attack Mother and Child in La Mesa neighbor comes to

first_img Categories: Local San Diego News Tags: attack, Dogs June 21, 2018  Two Dogs Attack Mother and Child Posted: June 21, 2018 La Mesa PD received several 911 calls reporting that a small child had been attacked by two dogs in the 6900 block of Waite Drive, in the City of La Mesa at around 8:15 this morning.La Mesa Police Officers, City of La Mesa Animal Control and Heartland Fire personnel responded to the scene, within just minutes.A 29-year-old mother was walking along the sidewalk, pushing a stroller with her 2-year-old son in it. Her 8-year-old daughter was walking alongside her. Two (2) Rottweiler dogs escaped from their backyard kennel, jumped over a fence and ran across the street where the mother and her children were walking. The dogs approached the family and immediately attacked the child in the stroller, biting him several times. The mother attempted to pull the stroller and her child away from the attacking dogs. At this point one of the dogs jumped up on her, knocking her to the ground and began to bite her, while the other dog continued to attack her child.Several neighbors saw what was happening and came outside in an effort to help the family. The dog’s owners also came outside and managed to pull the dogs off of the mother and her child, returning them to their backyard.The mother and child were both transported to the hospital where they were treated for serious, non-life threatening injuries. The mother received several puncture/bite wounds on her arm. The 2-year-old child received several bite wounds to his head, face and arm. The injury to the arm will require surgery. The 8-year-old child was not physically injured.Both of the dogs were declared dangerous at the scene, seized by La Mesa Animal Control and taken to the El Cajon Animal Shelter for quarantine.There is an on-going investigation into this incident being conducted by the La Mesa Police Department and City of La Mesa Animal Control.The La Mesa Police Department would like to thank those persons who saw what was happening and came to the rescue of this family.Jamir Grigsby is reportedly one of the neighbors who pulled the dogs off of the family.
